Hengqin Wetland, located on the west side of Hengqin New District, has a total area of 362 hectares and is a precious coastal wetland resource in Hengqin New Area. It is also a natural base for historical mangrove growth and an important stop on the "East Asia-Australia" migratory bird route.
The design concept of this project is to create a sharing place for nature and our society. Analyzing the ecological and social aspects of the site shows that the site is not only a coastal wetland with synergistic development of ocean, wetland, forest, and city, but also an ecological habitat where people, animal and vegetation live together in harmony, and an ecological treasure that is based on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area and shared across regions.
Based on the analysis, we mainly adopt three approaches: first, to establish a minimum intervention ecological sharing model; second, to rebuild diverse plant habitats; third, to create a scientifically rigorous habitat for birds.
